City of St. Thomas Issues Boil Water Advisory

ST. THOMAS — The City of St. Thomas received an adverse water sample at the Station St. sampling station late this afternoon. As a result, Southwestern Public Health has issued a boil water advisory for approximately 250 residents in the following areas:
Station St., St. Catherine St. (north of Curtis St.,) Mondamin St. (north of Curtis St.), Hiawatha St. (north of Owaissa St.,) Antrim St., Omemee St., Meda St., Beverly St., Kains St. (east of Hiawatha St. to Station St.,) and Curtis St. (east to St. Catherine St.)
Notices are being hand delivered to affected residents this evening. While resampling is scheduled, the advisory has been issued as a precaution.
If you live in the affected area, please bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for cooking, drinking, or any domestic use (i.e. brushing teeth, making ice, etc.)
The City has conducted additional water samples from the affected area this evening and submitted it for testing, with an additional sample to be taken on Thursday September 5th.
More details will be provided as they become available and affected residents will continue to receive direct updates.
Adverse samples are often the result of contamination at the sampling site or during lab testing. The City of St. Thomas, together with Southwestern Public Health, is treating this issue with the highest level of attention and care.
