Helping Residents Restore Lawns After Winter
Posted on 04/27/2026
The City of St. Thomas invites residents to attend a Spring Community Support Event aimed at helping property owners repair lawn damage caused by winter snowplow operations. Seasonal maintenance can sometimes result in turf disruption along boulevards and front lawns, and this initiative is designed to support residents in restoring these areas as we move into the spring season.
Event Date: Saturday, May 9, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Location: City Works Yard, 100 Burwell Road, St. Thomas
Event Details
Residents are welcome to attend during the scheduled hours to pick up complimentary topsoil and grass seed. These materials are provided free of charge to assist with lawn restoration across the community. City staff will be on-site to guide traffic, provide direction, and answer questions about materials and their use.
This trial program supports residents who wish to complete minor lawn repairs on their own timeline. The City will continue to address reported damage through its regular processes. In the meantime, residents can take advantage of this opportunity to complete repairs at their convenience.
Important Information
This program is intended for small, manageable lawn repairs only and not for large-scale landscaping or property improvements. Quantities will be managed by staff to ensure fair and equitable distribution.
Residents must bring their own containers, bags, or bins, as these will not be provided.
Do not bring sod, compost, or other materials for disposal. No dumping will be permitted, and any such materials must be taken back with you.
Please note that disruptive or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. The City reserves the right to end the event if necessary.
If the program proves successful, additional dates may be offered. Updates will be shared on the City’s website.
